Lyrebird Track, Mount Warning

Most of the day we spent at the caravan park- the children playing in and around the caravan while their parents sat and read.  after lunch we felt it might be time to stretch our legs so we drove up the Mount Warning Road again.  At the picnic area there is a sign which read:
"While the track is maintained, expect some natural hazards such as steep slopes, unstable slippery surfaces and rock and tree obstacles... The final section to the summit requires scrambling up a rock wall using a chain and foot holds in the rock."

We had been told it was a four hour climb to the top, but according to the information board that is about how long the return trip would take. Nonetheless, weren't equipped for the climb, so we took the much shorter Lyrebird Track before coming back to relax some more.

After dinner I cut up some meat for the kookaburras who have been coming to be fed every night, but before I knew it, Esther and Arthur had disappeared with the bowl.  They told me later that they had been putting on a bird show for a young couple camped nearby.  Apparently the currawongs had swooped down ahd caught bits of meat in mid air, and the bush turkeys had also made an appearance.  "Don't worry, Mum," Esther told me.  "We told them the rules. They had to sit very quietly, but they were allowed to take photos if they liked."
Partners in crime... hiding a bowl full of stolen Nutri Grain they were sharing, instead of getting ready for bed..

@Henkela... No, I didn't meet them. I was a bit embarassed at the time, and this morning they had gone out for the day. At least the children didn't ask for donations...
