Last Day in Alice

Just a quick update.
The car has a new fuel pump and is good to go, so we plan to hit the road at first light tomorrow.  If all goes well we hope to spend the night at the Devils Marbles tomorrow night. The Devils Marbles are 393 km north of Alice Springs and 760 km south of Katherine, which is our next main destination, so we'll have to stop somewhere the next night, too- possibly Daly Waters. Just driving a car we could cover a greater distance each day(especially considering the highway speed limit here is 130 kph!) but we need to travel more slowly with the caravan and also like to arrive with time to spare so we can explore the places we stop at.
While Philip took the car in to town the kids and I spent the morning quietly at home, got some "home schooling" done and watched ABC kids for the first time in over a month! When the car was finished we went and did some shopping to stock up for the road.  We even had a cup of coffee- very civilised!
During the time we were in the shops the sky had become rather stormy looking. The combination of smoke and cloud made for another beautiful sunset, which we watched as we ate our dinner in front of the caravan.  Arthur said,"It really is beautiful here, isn't it?  Look Esther, the sun is painting the sky all your favourite colours!"
I don't know whether there is any mobile reception where we'll be stopping, but if not I'll post an update from Katherine.

I love Arthur's comments. Poetical. The sunset must have been breathtaking!
