We played a bit of totem tennis today, and otherwise just relaxed.
Every evening, while we're having dinner, we throw some bread crumbs down for the birds. On the first night there were only a few crested pigeons. The following day they were joined by a group of grey crowned babblers and a couple of galahs. Every evening the flock grows. They start sitting in the surrounding trees as the sun gets lower. We've been joking that word is out that it's party time at the starks' caravan just before sunset! Tonight we counted two pied butcherbirds, five crested pigeons, a number of babblers and twenty-two galahs! But tonight we also got some other visitors- the euros (wallaroos) who normally come into the adjoining paddock every evening ventured within metres of our caravan to share the feast! There were two females carrying little joeys, as well as two of last year's joeys. The young ones were rather skittish and decided soon that they felt safer in the paddock, but the mothers stayed for quite a while and only hopped away when someone walking a dog disturbed them. (Euros have long ears and shaggier fur that either wallabies or kangaroos)
